The past few weeks of producing my project has had it's ups and downs; going into understanding the character and how the story will be laid out became a difficult task in itself considering my mental health over the past few weeks. With balance however, I was able to create something that would contribute to the project despite the perfectionist side of me not liking it.
Character Designs/Actions
I had a little play around with the characters but I was really unhappy with how they turned out, I took some time away from the project to avoid complete burn-out.
I tried a life drawing class and felt a little more motivated to do the character explorations, I'm happy with some of it but not so happy about other areas of the explorations. Despite that, it helped me retain what the characters look like and explore how they would walk and act a little bit.
Storyboarding/Thumbnailing

There's a couple of panel tweaking despite the help from the script to see what would flow better or suit the scene best.
I'm a bit surprised that I'm not as motivated or excited about this project that I had been at the start, I don't know if it's a confidence issue that's stopping me or just my overall mental health.
I've tried to make sure I'm going with my artistic flow of creating, not over planning but planning just enough; when I over-plan I end up really not liking the end product regardless of if its good or not. I also think that the material I'm using has changed a little bit too, I've tried out a few new ink pens that are really appealing to me and swaying me towards only using ink for this project-- but I know the effect and textures that charcoal creates so I don't want to completely dismiss it.
Moving into the next stage of my work, I will be drawing up the pages using pencil and B4 Manga Paper-- it comes with guidelines and the correct dimensions that is needed for the manga format.
